Prabhas’ The Raja Saab Release Delayed — Maruthi Responds

Prabhas’ A Bump in the Road for Prabhas’ Horror Comedy

Fans eagerly awaiting the release of The Raja Saab, Prabhas’ much-talked-about horror-comedy, will need to wait a little longer. Director Maruthi Dasari has officially confirmed that the film’s release has been postponed, citing intensive post-production work as the primary reason behind the delay.

Initially expected to hit theaters mid-2024, the film is now eyeing a November 2024 release window, although the date isn’t set in stone just yet.

What’s Causing the Delay?

In a recent interview, Maruthi shared that the film’s visual effects and sound design are taking more time than anticipated. “The scale of this project is larger than what most people expect from a horror-comedy,” he explained. “We are working hard to maintain quality. We don’t want to rush.”

Given the fanbase Prabhas commands—especially after the success of films like Baahubali and Salaar—the expectations are sky-high. The team doesn’t want to compromise on quality, particularly when it comes to CGI-driven sequences and fantasy-horror elements that are central to the film’s plot.

Maruthi’s Message to Fans

To ease fan concerns, Maruthi took to social media and public platforms with a heartfelt message. He asked for patience and reiterated that the wait will be worth it.

“We are working hard to give fans something fresh. The Raja Saab is not your typical horror-comedy—it’s emotional, stylish, and rooted in Indian culture. Just a little more time, and we’ll make you proud,” he shared.

What We Know About The Raja Saab So Far

This will be Prabhas’ first full-fledged foray into the horror-comedy genre, a significant shift from his usual action-packed or mythological roles. The film is expected to blend humor, romance, horror, and fantasy into a unique narrative.

Produced by People Media Factory, the film also stars Nidhhi Agerwal and Malavika Mohanan as the female leads. Music is being composed by Thaman S, further adding to the hype.

Though much of the plot is still under wraps, insider reports suggest that Prabhas plays a small-town man who unexpectedly inherits supernatural powers—opening doors to both comedy and chaos.

Why This Delay Could Be a Good Thing

While release delays often frustrate fans, this one could actually work in the film’s favor. A November release positions The Raja Saab for the Diwali and holiday season, potentially drawing bigger audiences to theaters.

Also, considering the increasing criticism surrounding rushed post-productions in Indian cinema, this delay sends a positive signal that quality is being prioritized over speed.
